Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Fayette County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept for the time needed to respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the server may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and timestamps
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as which pages receive the most visits and where sessions end. A browser can be set to reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Fayette County Criminal History does not build, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to source custodians such as Lexington Police, Community Corrections, the Fayette circuit court clerk, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-history file.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is subject to that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider decides how long it retains data and when it shares information. Review those terms before sending a query because Fayette County Criminal History cannot control the provider's practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Fayette County and Lexington government resources, Kentucky courts and agencies, legal-assistance organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy rules control that visit. Check those rules before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use activity across more than one website to select ads. That tracking occurs through their technology and systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed or transmitted in these limited settings:
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on the pages
- Outside search providers that process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors that measure use and performance
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security measures are used for the information collected. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute protection, however, so the site cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If data from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be made so it can be removed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Other privacy or consumer-protection law may provide rights based on a visitor's residence. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to nonexempt records held by public agencies, while KRS 17.150 addresses access to specified law-enforcement records. Those public-record statutes do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Seek deletion when the governing law permits it
- Decline certain forms of data processing where an opt-out right applies
